his Mother's Home Cooking in Puglia!
Michele Lisi’s “Mama Teresa” menu is inspired by his mother, his first teacher in the kitchen at their home in Puglia. His culinary training began by chance at age thirteen. Mamma Teresa had applied for a culinary course for herself with Chef Cavalier Angelo Consoli, but unable to attend, she asked Michele to go in her place. The commute was an hour by train each way, and when young Michele returned home after a full day of cooking he was eager to eat her homemade made Italian cuisine.
Everything Mamma Teresa cooks is based on what's in season in the family’s country garden. Over the years, Michele's work has brought him far away from Puglia but he still loves to cook with his Mamma from time to time although sometimes they may differ on how to make a recipe, never-the-less, they cherish making Italian food together.
